Facility wide initiatives

Residents at Northern Manhattan are an integral part of the facility’s life. We seek their input/comments and ideas on a multitude of issues that affect their daily lives. The facility has organized a residents’ Council and a Food committee. These committees meet, at least, on a monthly basis to discuss issues important to residents and to provide the facility with suggestions on topics of concern. These meetings are facilitated by the Director of Therapeutic Recreations.

In addition to facility wide committees, on any given unit, the social worker and residents meet as needed to discuss daily activities and to elicit resident input on programs and services.

Northern Manhattan is Joint Commission accredited and we have an active:

  • Continuous Quality Improvement Committee
  • Safety Committee
  • Infection Control Committee
  • Ethics Committee
  • Staff conducts regular discharge planning committee meetings
  • Adhoc Committees to address special projects

Northern Manhattan is committed to innovation in the health care field. To that end we have instituted:
  • Electronic Medical Record – 2008
  • Dementia Grant Program _ 2009
  • Nursing Home Quality Improvement Project
  • Resident Centered Care Initiative
